Main Page error reports[edit]

To report an error on today's or tomorrow's Main Page, please add it to the appropriate section below.

  • Where is the error? An exact quote of all or part of the text in question will help.
  • Offer a correction if possible.
  • References are helpful, especially when reporting an obscure factual or grammatical error.
  • Time zones: The current date and time is displayed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC, currently 02:43 on 18 August 2019), not adjusted to your local time zone.
  • Do not use {{edit fully-protected}}, which will not give you a faster response, and in fact causes problems if used here. (See the bottom of this revision for an example.)
  • Done? Once an error has been fixed, or has rotated off the Main Page, or has been acknowledged as not an error, the error report will be removed from this page; please check the page's history for discussion and action taken.
  • No chit-chat: Lengthy discussions should be moved to a suitable location elsewhere.
  • Can you fix the issue yourself? If the error is with the content of an article linked from the main page, consider attempting to fix the problem rather than reporting it here.

  • The image probably requires a caption to identify Shelley Chaplin, as well as adding "(pictured)" after her name in the blurb. — RAVENPVFF · talk · 01:29, 18 August 2019 (UTC)
    • Added "pictured". No opinion on the caption; David Levy generally handles those. - Dank (push to talk) 02:33, 18 August 2019 (UTC)

Errors with In the news[edit]

Ural Airlines Flight 178

operating the flight is unnecessary and not grammatical. Aircraft do not operate flights. Airlines or maybe even pilots operate flights. --- Coffeeandcrumbs 12:13, 17 August 2019 (UTC)

And bird strikes could be wikilinked as essential. Brandmeistertalk 19:45, 17 August 2019 (UTC)
Your vulgar use of "impacts [sic]" in, "Typhoon Lekima (satellite image shown) impacts [sic] the Philippines, ... [etc.]"

This word is a disgrace. It's another example of vulgar journalese that turns nouns into verbs, and you're now part of the problem by using it instead of the accurate word or phrase, such as another editor correctly did on the Main Page, i.e., "1969 – Hurricane Camille struck [sic] the Mississippi coast of the United States, ... [etc.]" And you or another thin-skinned editor deleted my previous comments for no good reason. Are your feelings hurt by my criticism? Too damn bad! I don't give a damn about your feelings! Appropriate usages: "made landfall in"; "devastated"; etc. Autodidact1 (talk) 08:32, 17 August 2019 (UTC)

impacts is a verb meaning (a) to have a direct effect or impact on; (b) to strike forcefully according to Merriam-Webster. Oxford Dictionary also defines impact as a verb meaning come into forcible contact with another object.--- Coffeeandcrumbs 02:42, 18 August 2019 (UTC)

Kashmir issue[edit]

Whether or not Kashmir issue should be regarded as an international issue? Shahid Ashraf Rather (talk) 22:43, 14 August 2019 (UTC)

I don't understand what you are asking, and how it relates to Wikipedia's main page. Please be more specific. MPS1992 (talk) 22:48, 14 August 2019 (UTC)
